VOLS Stand 4 Freedom
Group Overview
Freedom. It is a word we cherish, a state we experience, and a reality we have fought for. Throughout history, freedom has had many opponents; all were devastating, but all were faced fearlessly in the name of freedom. Human sex trafficking is no new enemy to freedom. It is an evil that has been lurking in the dark far longer than one can imagine, oppressing men, women, and children alike.

We knew we had to do something about it. We knew we could not just sit back silently and wait for it to pass. No, we resolve to stand, to fight for justice and liberty for all, and not just because these ideals have been engrained in us from our youth by way of American patriotism and culture. But, first and foremost, we stand because we know what it is like to be enslaved. We were once held captive and in bondage and without hope in this world. But then, a glorious Hero appeared and set these captives free. We are no longer bound to engage in shameful acts but have been delivered by a great Savior, Jesus Christ. Experiencing so great a deliverance, we count it our duty, our privilege, our honor to do whatever it takes to see all people come to not just a physical freedom but to an ultimate freedom and restoration through Jesus Christ.

We are inspired by love and compelled by the words of the prophet Isaiah. "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and the releasing of prisoners from darkness, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn."

Whether you hold religious beliefs and values or not, we can all agree on one thing. This cruel injustice must be brought to an end. And we are the generation that will set past clashing opinions and practices aside, because we are the generation that is united for FREEDOM. Today we stand, once again, on the threshold of freedom and captivity. This day we step over it again on to the side of freedom.

100% of all donations to this campaign will support the work of International Justice Mission, a human rights agency that is bringing rescue and freedom to victims of slavery, sex trafficking and other forms of violence.

IJM investigators, lawyers and aftercare staff are on the frontlines of the fight for justice in Latin America, Africa and Asia. In 2011 alone, IJM partnered with local authorities to rescue more than 1,600 children, women and men from sex trafficking, forced labor slavery and other violent oppression, and helped put more than 100 slave-owners, traffickers and rapists behind bars.
